Diptyque - DO SON
3min of reading

Magnified in a book of art photographs and drawings signed by the artist Tim Walker and developed by the Exhibition studio last year, Do Son appears again this year in a new creative light, a new territory of expression: the animated film.

We chose directors Werlen Meyer, known for their collaboration with Wes Anderson, to bring to life the rich history of the perfume Do Son, a childhood memory of one of the three founders of Diptyque.

The film is constructed as a flashback, an imaginary journey between reverie and surrealism that sublimates the elements associated with the perfume: the junk, the tuberoses, the pagodon. We gave the renowned artist James Blake carte blanche to compose the soundtrack for the short film. In addition to the film, Exhibition developed an exceptional and unique 360° system. The film was shown internationally on outdoor event screens in Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the USA and the UK, as well as in cinemas, notably in France.

FROM VIETNAM TO PARIS, FROM MEMORY TO FRAGRANCE, FROM ILLUSTRATION TO ANIMATION.
Diptyque decided to entrust the music to James Blake, British singer, once again underlining his link with today's art.

The English musician, who has been a loyal member of the House for many years, confirms this: "Diptyque made me want to compose a retrospective piece. It had to be the music of the memories recounted in the history of Do Son. I tried as much as possible to underline the emotional contours of the animated film."
